Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study

Cross-cultural collaboration in festival organization fosters unity, mutual understanding, and the sharing of diverse cultural values. In Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, Borno State, festivals such as the Durbar and Sallah celebrations attract participants from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Collaboration among these groups is essential for ensuring inclusivity and the successful execution of events. According to Buba and Shettima (2023), cross-cultural collaboration enhances resource sharing, creativity, and conflict resolution in festival planning. However, achieving effective collaboration in Maiduguri is often hindered by challenges such as cultural biases, language barriers, and limited trust among stakeholders. This study evaluates the effectiveness of cross-cultural collaboration in organizing festivals in Maiduguri, highlighting its benefits, challenges, and impact on festival success.
